HAMster Group Meet & Greet
29/04/21 18:26
I was going through some old CD’s that I had storing HAMster Group photographs of events and activities and came across this photo. This was a trip down memory lane for me, and I am sure many of you out there as well. This photo was taken at our very first Meet & Greet. This event was held October of 2007.
For our First Breakfast get together, we decided to meet at the Taco Cabana in New Braunfels as a large percentage of our membership was coming in From Austin, with the other half coming from San Antonio, so this was decided to be a semi-center point for us all. Our first Meet & Greet was clearly a success and became a standard monthly event until the Pandemic put an end to it March of 2020.
Back then the HAMsters Group {known as the Unusual Suspects at the time} had a reputation for being one of the friendliest groups in Amateur Radio, and our popularity grew.
As I look at the picture here, it is with some wonderful memories, but also with great sadness at the number of Silent Keys in the photo.
Bill WX5W, Eddie K1EPZ, Floyd W5FGG, John KD5CEN all of whom are greatly missed and were wonderful Amateur Radio Operators and fantastic people to call friends.
It is with these memories, that I look forward to the return of the HAMster Group Meet & Greets and Swap meet once again…
A week from this Saturday on May 8th at 8:am, the HAMster Group will be meeting for our first MEET & GREET PLUS SWAP since March 2020 when the Pandemic began closing everything down.
Please join us, we want to see this event really kick back off with a bang.
We are meeting at 8:am Saturday May 8th at:
Taqueria Casa Jalisco
10696 Toepperwein Rd
Converse, Texas.
If you will take part in the swap meet, please park in the spaces directly in front of the restaurant.
I hope you can join us as we kick off a great fun activity and get the HAMsters off to a new start of fun and activities.
